FrisBall
Frisball is a net & wall game, which is strongly based on the sport of volleyball.
- The objective of frisball is to catch a frisbee and return it over the net and inside the boundaries in a way which makes it unplayable by the opposition. Landing the frisbee in the oppositions 'score zones' (1m in from the far line, and 1m from the net) will grant more points. - Set up the court with the markers as shown in the diagram as (x), and erect a net in the middle of the court to separate the two halves. - The game is generally played between two teams consisting of two members (this can be changed depending on the circumstances). One team starts with the frisbee, throws it over the net and into the opposition half. The opponents must try to catch the frisbee on the full. This continues until the frisbee hits the ground. - Scoring is as follows; If the frisbee lands within the court boundries the throwing team win a point, however, if the frisbee lands outside the court, the opposition wins one point. The 'score zones' contribute 5 points to the thrower, if the frisbee lands inside them. The first team to reach 11points is the winner. This means that from a defensive/receiving point of view, you need to move quickly to avoid letting it hit the ground. - Rotate players from different teams to change up the dynamic, especially if one team consists of great players who are dominating others. - Players are using skills such as accuracy, power management, hand-eye coordination, wrist action, agility and their recognition (of a frisbee's movement). Safety Guidelines:
- Remind players to communicate, and be aware of their surroundings (other players). - Depending on the playing surface, instruct players to not take drastic action to catch a frisbee (diving around on asphalt). |
In this diagram, there are two teams each consisting of two players, separated by a net.
