Keep Up
Keep Up seems like simple game, yet can be quite challenging. The basis of the game is about the 'set-up' in Volleyball.
- The aim of Keep Up is to develop the volleyball set technique in an enjoyable, non pressured situation. The game's objective is to see how many set-up the group can do without letting the ball touch the ground. One set-up is counted when a player launches the ball back into the air. - Setting up the game itself is simple and easy; just use 4 markers to outline a playing area (usually 5m²) and group up 3-4 players with one ball. - To begin, one player tosses up the ball, another player calls out their name to indicate the ball is theirs, that player then sets the ball for another person, who call their name and attempts to set the ball. This continues until the ball hits the ground or leaves the allocated area. - Once the game is over players try to beat their previous number of sets. - The skills that are required in this game include, hand-eye coordination, timing, power management and communication with others. Additional Information:
- To keep the game intresting challenge two groups to see who can do more sets than the other, or split the group into individuals and see who can do the most. - This game can be heavily modified to challenge players and continue development. Head to the focus questions to ind out how. |

- Remind the players to communicate and be wary of their surroundings, as they will most likely be looking up and their vision will be limited to their peripherals. - Encourage students not to set the ball too high or with too much force, as the next person may not be able to control it, and may hurt themselves. |
